Mary Howard Health Center

 

Mary Howard Health Center began in 1997 as part of the national Health Care for the Homeless project. Since that time, this Federally Qualified Health Center has served two thousand patients per year, and is recognized as the city’s leading provider of comprehensive health care for homeless adults. Mary Howard has a bilingual staff and interpretation services available. Mary Howard Health Center for the Homeless is a Patient-Centered Medical Home.

Our health care services include:

  • Adult primary care
  • Family planning
  • Women’s healthcare services
  • Behavioral health and trauma informed consultation services
  • Clinical Social Workers
  • HIV and Hepatitis C testing, counseling, and treatment
  • Management of chronic health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, asthma and others
  • Medical case management
  • Health and nutrition counseling
  • Addiction medication
  • Immunizations and flu shots
  • Peer recovery services, referral navigation, health insurance assistance
  • Social services assistance (SNAP, housing, insurance, utilities, legal etc.)

Mary Howard Health Center has a pharmacy discount program available. Most insurance plans are accepted and there is a sliding fee scale for uninsured patients. All patients will be seen regardless of their ability to pay.

This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n). This health center also receives HHS funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.
