PHMC Health Network celebrates Nurse Practitioners this week and all year long
Communities nationwide are joining this week in celebration to honor the critical role of Nurse Practitioners (NP) who are championing the health of America’s patients. The theme this year is “NPs Moving Forward: Today. Tomorrow. Together,” and it couldn’t be more fitting as NPs continue to be on the forefront of combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year marks the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife celebration, which coincides with the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birthday—a true honor to recognize one of the most trusted professions, with nurses regularly being lauded for their high-quality, compassionate care and unique skills to treat the whole person.
At PHMC Health Network, our NPs undertake a public health role – developing relationships, making a difference in the quality of life of vulnerable patients, addressing the social determinants of health, and bringing meaningful change in the lives of our patients. They are called on to play the role of coach, health care professional, friend, social worker and so much more. Their tireless work and dedication brings hope and optimism to individuals, families and communities every day. PHMC programs and subsidiary nurses care for patients across a number of different settings, including our health centers, addiction treatment programs, homeless shelters, residential programs and directly in the community supporting families. Our nurses work alongside lawyers to support new mothers and strengthen families; they promote family health and education and shine a light on nurse-led care through national advocacy, policy and by strengthening community health.
