PHMC Celebrates National Health Center Week 2020

The PHMC Health Network's five nurse-managed, Federally Qualified Health Centers play a critical role in assisting underserved communities, particularly public housing populations and individuals experiencing homelessness, by providing high-quality, patient-centered primary care including an array of services – substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, dental, trauma, pediatric and social services. Here is a comprehensive list of services.

Patients can call 855.887.9229 to schedule an in-person or a telehealth visit.
Most insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. We see all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

All the five health centers are commemorating National Health Center Week based on the theme “Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities Today and in the Future” with the following activities:

Monday, August 10: Healthcare for the Homeless Day
Collection drive: Drop off resources for our patients experiencing homelessness at any of our five locations. Items like socks, toiletries and canned goods are welcome. Call 855.887.9229 to schedule a drop off at one of our locations.

Reading Corner: We are setting up reading corners for children and adults at Woodstock family shelter.

Tuesday, August 11: Children’s Health Day
This is a reminder to get your children to complete their immunizations and well checks for back-to-school preparation. Call 855.887.9229 to schedule an appointment for your child.

Watch our “better brushing” video for children to learn how to properly brush and take care of their teeth.

Get advice from Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street in this video about “eating a rainbow” to help families stay healthy and strong.

Read along with our clinicians in these video recordings in English and Spanish. Children's books in English and Spanish will be distributed at all the health centers. Here is the link to free e-books from Sesame Street.

Wednesday, August 12: Patient Appreciation Day
Keep fit with a Zumba class and try out our health recipes for fruit and greens smoothie, Louisiana red beans and rice and rice mustard honey chicken salad.

Thursday, August 13: Men’s Health Day
Data suggest that more men than women are dying of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide, but it is unclear why. The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is shining a spotlight on the neglect of men’s health at local, state, national, and global levels. Call 855.887.9229 if you are looking for comprehensive primary care or a COVID-19 test.

We provide specialized programming for fathers through Focus on Fathers (FOF), a community-based fatherhood support program that offers parenting education, case management, and job readiness training. Complete this referral survey or call Larry Woody at 267-765-2361 to see if you qualify. All classes are online and check out their upcoming schedule.
